Climate Change Education Resources

VVOB's Keep It Cool: Climate Change Education (KIC:CCE) project has created a variety of resources that can be used by educators, school leaders, teacher trainers and climate change education facilitators to share ideas on how to integrate climate change education and climate action into the curriculum, into the classroom, extra-curricular activities and community projects.

Pre-loaded tablet climate change education resources

The KIC:CCE programme provided participating teachers with tablets pre-loaded with climate change education resources. The resources were uploaded to the cloud by the universities, and can be downloaded by clicking the links below.

Teacher and School Leadership Team Resource Sets

Along with its partners Green Matter and Fundisa for Change, and with the generous support of Flanders, VVOB has developed a series of digital materials to assist teachers in conceptualising and implementing a curriculum-activated climate change project. This is a support set for teachers primarily - but also for Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) - participating in the Keep It Cool: Climate Change Education (KIC:CCE) Project, as well as for those who did not participate and are interested starting and running their own climate change project. The eight individual sets can be downloaded below.

Climate Change & Sustainability Education Digital Library

The KIC:CCE partners are proud to provide access to the Climate Change and Sustainability Education Digital Library, developed by UCT's Schools Development Unit (SDU). This searchable, user-friendly online library was developed by UCT's Digital Library Services using the Ibali platform. The library contains Open Educational Resources (OERs) that support the broader teaching and learning community with resources that are freely available to all stakeholders. Using a communication strategy that promotes the exchange of knowledge and promising practices among the stakeholders, the CCSDL offers climate change education resources freely to all.

The CCDL is linked with existing teacher training resources, educational platforms and climate change program including the African Climate & Development Initiative (ACDI; located at UCT) and Rhodes University’s Environmental Learning and Research Centre (ELRC).
